Volume 1 (parts 1 and 2, 1914-15) was hit by the First World War, and the second series achieved four annual numbers (1927-32) before the Society amalgamated with the *Folk-Song Society. Nevertheless, in its short existence, it included a number of important pieces on the *morris, *sword, and country *dance, 'mumming plays, and other matters. The first series was edited by Perceval Lucas, but the editorials in the second series are unsigned. It was replaced in 1932 by the 'Journal of the English Folk Dance and Song Society.
